Take a Hike Foundation

Non-Profit Partner

Every child needs access to a quality public education that allows them to reach their full potential, but not everyone fits into the mainstream school system.

Take a Hike partners with public school districts to engage vulnerable youth in a full-time mental health and emotional well-being program embedded in an alternate education classroom, empowering them with the skills and resilience they need to graduate high school, build healthy relationships, and navigate the challenges of young adulthood. Through intensive and continuous clinical counseling, regular outdoor adventures, and support in a safe and caring community, Take a Hike has transformed the lives of hundreds of Canadian youth and their families over the past twenty years.

Why We Work Together

We can all look back at a person, place, or moment when the outdoors became an integral part of our lives. Outdoor Research believes in Take a Hike’s mission to use the outdoors as a grounding educational tool to connect with youth who may not otherwise have the opportunity to interact with the environment so many of us rely on to make ourselves whole.
