Bas van Steenbergen

Bas first mounted a bike at the ripe old age of two and never looked back. He grew up in The Netherlands, the world epicenter of bicycle culture. Although there are no mountains in the country, Bas cut his teeth racing dirt bikes and riding BMX with his family, so when it came time to make the jump to mountain biking in 2010 when his family moved to Canada, he was already well ahead of the curve.

Bas started racing mountain bikes in the local BC and Canada Cups, and with a strong list of results, he made the jump to the World Cup stage in just his third year racing. Not long after his race career began, Bas started to dabble on the freeride side of the sport, competing in various Fest Series, Red Bull Hardline, and Red Bull Rampage events. Eventually, he found his niche, competing at Crankworx, the globe's premier MTB festival series. After a few middle-of-the-pack finishes, he rededicated himself to dialing in every aspect of his training, leading to unprecedented back-to-back King of Crankworx World Tour victories.
